As of 1st July we're pleased to welcome Ted Waddington to our sales team. Ted, based near Nottingham, will cover the north of England and North Midlands. Ted has extensive experience in both refrigeration sales and shopfitting. These along with this other skills will be invaluable in his new position of Sales Executive.

We were proud to, for the first time, sponsor an award at the National Butchers Product Evaluations. The awards were presented at the The NEC, Birmingham during the Foodex exhibition.

The day proved to be a great success with entrants travelling the length and breadth of the country to compete in this prestigious event. The number of entries was high with 81 butchers submitting a total of over 400 products for evaluation. Once again the quality of products, ranging from sausages, black puddings and burgers through to pies and pasties was high and really demonstrated the creative talent of our local butchers with an array of flavours and textures to tantalise the taste buds. This standard was reflected in the high number of certificates awarded with 123 Gold, 140 Silver and 59 Bronze.

We have had a long relationship with Philip Warren & Son butchers, this is the third time we've supplied them with Smeva cabinets.

Based in Launceston where their business was started in 1880 they are a butcher for Rare Breeds Survival Trust. Read more and see the images.

We are very pleased to announce that Hussmann Koxka, a leading provider of display cases, refrigeration systems, installation and service to food retailers around the world, has signed a new dealer agreement with Phoenix Retail.

Phoenix Retail will now stock the entire range of Hussmann Koxka products. These will be available for purchase direct from their UK manufacturing plants. Hussmann Koxka will also provide UK wide technical and product support as part of the agreement.

It was with huge regret that we recently had to announce that Portugal based refrigeration manufacturer Trimco Equipamentos Frigoríficos Lda. had gone into receivership. We have had a great realationship with Trimco since we became their agents in the UK early in 2006 and we wish all the Trimco staff employees well in the future.

With a 25 year history or producing high quality commercial refrigeration equipment and an annual production of over 10,000 units they will undoubtedly leave a large hole in the industry. We continue to honour the parts warranty on all cabinets. We currently still have a number of Trimco cabinets in stock, available with 40% discount and the same one years parts warranty. The Trimco range consists of refrigerated and ambient displays cabinets. To complement our Trimco range we can also design and supply counters for bars, coffee shops, delis, patisseries, restaurants and butchers. The list truly is endless.

Congratulations to our team of riders that took part in the Thruxton 24hour LeMans cycle ride in aid of The Co-operative charity of the year the RNID.

We'd like to thank all the employees, friends and family who were apart of the team. Each member had a minimum of a 1 hour  ride on the bike, riding around the 2.5 mile track, averaging at least four laps. The whole team completed the task with no casualties, although legs were starting to throb.

We don't know the exact amount raised yet, but we'll post it when all the money's in.

It's taken a little while but we've finally got all the details of our own range of Catering Equipment on the web site here.

On 22 July this year we will be exhibiting at the Fruit Focus exhibition taking place at the East Malling Research Centre in Kent.

They tell us "Fruit Focus is the key business event for all those involved in the production, distribution and sales of soft and top fruit; showcasing every aspect. Fruit Focus 2009 provides a unique chance to get updated with the latest technologies and industry developments, exchange views and network with fellow producers."

We will be exhibiting the Miatech range of greenhouse and post harvest misting equipment. Ideal for the storage of soft fruits in particular. If you're going to the exhibition please call by out stand (no.20) and say hello.
